You have to look at it from the opposite direction: This is an upgrade from PVC.

Sadly, as one might fear regarding an unnaturally large rack, it's not real.

The upper part is 10 year old PVC. Originally the entire thing was PVC, but it developed some failures this past year. I think the EMT will hold up better.
I need to pick up a handful of PVC fittings to finish it off.
Looks pretty good. I used to build these for folks going on Safaris in full size rigs. I too used the EMT as my base material.
