In your childhood who did you grow with on TV for Overlanding, travel, tips, bush survival, etc?

Here are a couple of shows I grew up with in the 80's on Australian TV. I had BIG plans back then that never happen due to work. We all live and learn.

Their names are linked to either their website or wikipedia, for more information.

Jack Absalom

Bush Tucker Man - Les Hiddins

Ted Egan

Harry Butler

Leyland Brothers

Sea Hunt and Jacques Cousteau were responsible for my undersea interest.

The '60s Daktari TV show was my introduction to Africa (as well as old Tarzan and Jungle Jim movies)

But shows like Wild Kingdom, National Geographic, and Marty Stauffer were the mainstay of my exposure to wild places. We didn't have anything exposing us to remote travel that I can recall, except gobs of westerns, which were encouragement to get out there and explore, too.

Totally offtopic perhaps, but I grew up watching Macgyver, the A-Team, KnightRider, Viper, Airwolf and so on.

My earliest memories of survival techniques came from shows by Ray Mears but, and this will make you laugh, my love of LandCruisers came from watching the 'Fly Doctors' as a kid [emoji23] They had 40's, 60's and 70 series on there regularly.
