Aaron, I wasn't trying to correct you or anything. Their question was related to spotting so the participants are already known before anyone keys the radio. I was just answering in those regards.
In general use you are spot on.

Gotcha. I've not had the chance to really need to do any spotter comms yet so in that regard, I agree and it will depend on the situation.

Good discussion though.
