Bought while I was in college in 1997, I waded into debt as a young man when I had no idea what it meant to take on such a commitment. In the late 90’s I explored on many a trip through the California Sierra and Baja Mexico before taking her off the road in 2005.
Finally, in 2020 after 15-years of slow restoration and over 23-years of ownership, she is registered again and about to roll out of the garage. Now, as a middle-aged man am I nearly ready to turn her loose to prowl the trails yet again.
Her mission will not be to immediately grace the trophy garage of some overseas scion. Time enough for that when I’m dead. Instead, she shall snort the alpine air, paw the dusty earth, and prowl across desert vistas bringing feral smiles to the outlaws among us.
That said, I am no beast tamer, I am merely a man with a dream, and I need your help. While I have my own ideas for how to outfit her, I hope to learn from the Overland Bound community’s collective wisdom the best ideas you have to offer.
I hope that you will share with me your ideas, your passions, your dreams. I look forward to seeing which ideas will materialize and bring smiles to those that I meet on the trails.
