I wrap cars and also do a lot of b2b with a friend that has a company that does decals and wraps for the off road community. He has his Xterra wrapped and while it protects the paint from light scrapes and scuffs, aggressive off roading can put a beating on it. That is an expected consequence and in his circle, but I point it out here because wraps are pricey and it's something to think about. If you can get past that, it's is a good way to change the look of your vehicle for much less than doing a full paint job.
Here's one we did in matte black...
Here's the Xterra...
Matte black with a gloss black topo map would look killer in my opinion. We like to mix mattes and glosses... they play off each other really well.
For this we printed a darker gray onto a lighter gray material and then overlaid a combo of gloss black and white with matte florescent.
While mate black looks cool - it is not "temp" wise. Personally after having black, red, yellow, orange and white vehicles I will only own white from now on for overlanding in the south west - so cal areas. Dark colors get hotter inside and out on the out side surface then the lighter colors - I also like that new light tan Toyota has. Just my 2cents.
