Those are very capable and great vehicles. I would do all the normal maintenance stuff, then take it out and see what it can do. Then you will know what needs to change and how to build it.

Any of y’all ever had any experience with Toyota Sequoias as a overland build? Any pictures? Or information you can share. I recently picked one up at a really good deal and had thoughts of building one from it. From what I’ve seen there supposed to be very reliable and capable 
It's a large rig. If I was to go with a Sequoia, it would be a first generation like yours, with a solid axle in the rear. Like a Land Cruiser but with better fuel economy. Unless you have one with ATRAC, you may want to look into a rear locker at some point.
