Vegas weekend

So we are in vegas for three days. We were hoping to spend a day exploring around outside of the city.
Any suggestions on cool landmarks, scenery, or cruising routes from other members?
(We are driving a rented malibu so no off road )

Valley of Fire & Glenn Cyn NRA. Hoover Dam is also interesting

Red Rock Canyon. Right outside Vegas. Check conditions, it can drop snow there but it dosent last long.

Apex Road, North of the City offers great plane spotting if you’re into that. Area 51 farther up the road a ways.

I always recommend starting at the welcome to Las Vegas sign. Go an hour north on I-15, head out thru Valley of Fire (if you have been to Red Rock, think of this as Red Rock on steroids!), exit the other side at Lake Mead National Recreation area,. Cruise thru that. Then head over to Hoover Dam, visit Boulder City and come into Las Vegas from the South. A nice way to kill off an afternoon or a day and very scenic...
