This Jeep and I have been to Colorado and back, the Arizona Strip, the Sierras, KOFA, Picacho(CA), Mohave Road, Death Valley, Gold Mountain & John Bull, Anza Borrego/Truckhaven. All but Colorado were camping trips, where the jeep was full of family and gear.
The Jeep has been in a garage all of it's life when not on an adventure. I bought it with 27,000 miles in 2008 and have put 40000 on it in 13 years. Most of that would be highway miles, perhaps 5% trail miles. It has spent enough time on the trail to have desert pinstriping and a few boo-boos. Some time with a polisher would make it shine.
I built this to handle most any trail, but I quickly learned that I don't like rock crawling for the sake of rock crawling. If the destination demands it I will, but otherwise I am travelling for the destination off the beaten path, not the trail rating. It is my "Backpack" I keep it loaded with lightweight and compact gear to maximize my adventure without adding unnecessary weight or aero drag. On a trip to Arizona this spring with 200 miles of trails I averaged 13.5 MPG round trip. In July we drove to Monache Meadows and got the same MPG round trip.
Currently has a leak on front axle seal. I intend to replace the seals in the next week. I have a brand new set of RCV axles and Timken Unit bearings. I can swap them in place of the Yukon hubs and axles for an extra $1000. (cost me $1500).
