Now driving my fourth Suzuki Jimny and setting it up as a ultralightweight  micro overland camper.

Overland Bound have already solved my design problem with my own design Suzuki Jimny rear bed system.

Just a photo of my 1st mock up and testing the fit in the back of my Jimny.
The floor/top part/bed base is now all finished apart from a few final pieces to fit and then sanding and I’m looking to use a rhino coating.
The base is now waiting for me to make out of Square furniture tubing and only yesterday I got the permission to use a old boss’s welding gear.
Getting excited now.
Note: no drawers are going to be used!
This is because of weight and needing the max us of the limit space.
So going with soft bags only.

So kinda like a suitcase on wheels? huh. where's the thumbs up emoji?
Interesting idea. I already grabbed some soft bags for laundry. Goes in the same space as the clean, just in the bag.

So no drawers to make the maximum use of the space available to me and to keep the overall weight as low as possible.

In the past in my last micro overlander I built the rear system and bed out of too heavy box steel (was new and free) and the drawers drastically cut down on available space.
Sleep many a good night travelling the back roads of New Zealand.

This time around is to keep it light, make max use of the space for myself and my assistance Dog.

It’s funny that in the 1990’s I drove a double decker coach with 85 (plus driver seat) seats about the UK and big ex army 4X4 Bedford trucks in North Africa and Europe.

Sorry I have been missing updating my Suzuki Jimny Ultra Micro Overland built.

A family member has been unwell and I have been busy helping.

Anyway I have now got a pair of rear window replacements that open up for more air flow.

Waiting for a winch mount to arrive in NZ to mount up my new Warn Axon 55S winch.

Looking at a TIG welder to finish building my Sleeping system/storage 

New tyres are ordered and due any day now.

Looking forward to our first adventure

Update

Winch is fitted and waiting for me to wire up.
Sliding windows have arrived and are now fitted
Snorkel, has arrived and I have drilled the hole’s and waiting to make a Circuit breaker (for winch and air compressor) mounting and fitting into the engine bay before completing the snorkel instalment.
Going to purchase a new TIG welder and gear this afternoon.
So adventures are coming soon.

So after one year of ownership of my Jimny it’s was finally time to upgrade my rear side windows to sliding open Explore Glazing windows with security grills in place.
Now I have to point out that they are normally just bonded in like the standard side windows!
I have not just bonded in the windows but also have 6 bolts per side holding them in place!
Totally not normal, but I’m making up two brackets using the front four top and bottom bolts to hold them in place.
The mounts are going to hold a adjustable bracket with a pair of fans per side to help keep my Dog/Puppy (Zippy) cool when I have to run into a shop etc.
Plus to help keep the two of us cool when sleeping inside our Ultra Micro Overland/Camper at night.

Update
I have sold my Ultra Micro Overlander to a local Suzuki dealership.
She is now sitting and waiting for a new owner.

I have been very lucky to secure one of the very last new Toyota 78 series Land Cruiser Troop Carrier’s available in New Zealand.

I pick her up this Friday and serious adventures with begin this coming weekend before a quick rear buildup begins.
