• Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Hi Guys I'm interested in feedback from UK members specifically.
Can you look at the following and give me some feedback. No one is going to hold you to this but I'm hoping this information will help us to sort out some of the issues we are experiencing.

I appreciate your help and please if you prefer send me the info in private message or to my e-mail spinks.dave@gmail.com

1/. Location
2/. Local Meet Ups - How far are you willing to travel for chin wag / socialise with other local members.
3/. Nationwide Meet Ups - How far are you willing to travel for a weekend meet up with members from further a field.
4/. Overland Shows - Do you regularily attend any of the annual overland shows in the UK and which ones.
5/. Do you have any specific skills or experience you would be willing to share at a meet up.
6/. Do you prefer the Forum Platform or the Facebook Platform for being kept up to date on local and regional events and sharing updates and information.

Thank you I appreciate the feedback. Additionally the West Europe Ambassador / Director position is vacant. I have been told a type of role description is being written up and will be available shortly. If anyone is interested in taking on the role then get in touch with @Kent R

Hi Dave,

Thanks for this. My answers;
1) Oxfordshire
2) 45mins - 1hr
3) Up to about 4hrs. That means the Lakes if I’m headed north. Although we are usually in Scotland several times a year so if something linked up then that would work.
4) Adventure Overland & HUBB UK, usually get to the more generic one day shows too.
5) Not really... I wrote a piece on basic auto electrics for the forum.
6) Either... facebook I would probably see more quickly and the notifications are easier. Forum I dip into less often but find better for following longer discussions.

Thanks again,

Tim

1. My location is Essex
2. would be willing to travel up to 50 miles for a chin wag, possibly more if it suits others just outside my area
3. for a weekend meet up I would travel around 200 miles, possibly more for the same reasons as number 2
4. I've yet to attend the overland shows in the UK yet but definitely intend to go to whatever ones I can
5. certainly willing to share my mechanic skills with others, as I'm a plant mechanic by trade so do all work and maintenance on my vehicles. I also plan to build my truck into a capable overland vehicle, even if it is a 90, but I suppose if I have no luck I can always go for a 110. I would also be grateful for other information and advice from others.
6. the Facebook platform seems easier to use and quicker to get on and reply with, however thinks like the overland bound talk app have made things simpler than logging into the main website every time from a mobile device .

I hope my answers help Dave
thanks
Aaron

  1. Live Wirral, work North Lakes
  2. Hour ish, give or take.
  3. Anything, assuming no clashes.
  4. Willing to give any of them a go each year, especially if combined with OB meet.
  5. Vehicle mechanics and off road/expedition prep, electrics, solar, navigation/map reading/route planning.
  6. Forum Platform for searching resources, data, help and historical info. Facebook Platform for a quick look in. Firm believer that forums are the best resource and that FB is killing forums off, but is far from being a replacement.

For those interested in the results of the poll conducted here and on the regional FB Forum.
Everyone seems to be on the same page regarding distances willing to travel.
Hopefully a few local meets can be arranged and then wider participation at say the Adventure Overland Show in April 2019.

Thank you to all who took the time to participate.
