Poormans Gulch about mile and a half South of Cleator AZ. No more crashing threw creeks for me without checking for these dudes and dudettes.AAAAAAARG! Dam rare find here.

Always good to check for them, sadly though some people don't care. The one submerged looks like the rocks next to it.

Very cool siting. I've yet to come across one in my travels. They've been on the endangered list in Cali for a long time.

It's nice to see people are cognizant of these guys. I always try to avoid unnecessary creek crossings, especially in places where there's obvious signs of aquatic fauna dwelling below.

Also, I miss Arizona........

I lived on the Colorado River growing up and fished with my grandfather. Turtles were very common back then. We would pull them up ever so often and have to pull the hooks out of their mouths and let them go. For as long as I can remember he had a desert tortoise in his yard. The thing was pretty big. It's pretty amazing how wildlife can survive in places you think that are uninhabitable.
