Agreed, some of the components on this thing is seriously not geared towards offroading but it IS a concept vehicle. I found it more interesting that Toyota had integrated all these overlanding-and-offroad-friendly details like the lighting, camera, and semi-enclosed roof rack. I'm curious if they will work through this model and finish the interior. Styling aside, based on the pure functional exterior components, I can't wait to see what they do with the interior.
I think it would be really cool if they incorporated some of this uni body offroad drivetrain into a mini van. It obviously wouldn't be a rock crawler, but I think it would provide sort of a best of both worlds kind of vehicle in terms of dirt road/sand-ability and family utility. Kind of like the VW Syncro or Westfalia's of old.
I'm in the market for an SUV, but everything I look at feels like a big downgrade in terms of cargo space and such from our Odyssey. If the Odyssey had even a Subaru level AWD system and slightly better clearance, I'd probably stay with it forever.
