Looks like a test vehicle. Last year we did have a spectrum analyzer along for the trip into the Castle Mts in MT. ;) We tend to be on the geekier side with our comms.

I seem to remember an amateur radio site that showcased the over-the-top mobile setups (or nightmares). When I say showcased, it was more akin to "People of Walmart" than something to try to achieve. Yours hasn't reached that level yet... but there is still time.
