Fozzy325 - I liked your idea so much I stole it! I've been keeping my maps and other documents while I travel in a contractor's case. It's worked well but it's a bit cumbersome. I picked up a small ammo case which is big enough for the 2 or 3 maps I'll take with me depending on where I'm going. I'll continue to use the case for other paper work, brochures I pick up along the way, a few magazines, etc.

I have 4-5 GPS's and all kinds of other stuff but out where I live there are lots of places with no cell service or GPS it's just dead.

I've been using topo maps forever and no matter what, light, dark, power, no power, sat coverage or not they always work as does my compass.

Here's how I store my topo maps, I looked at the stuff that was out there and it was way to expensive so I made my own.

I used 3" and 4" black APS sewer pipe and some caps and fittings. I made 12 tubes for about $75.00 so it was not only bulletproof but affordable.

That tube design is a great idea! I like rolled maps … no folds or flipping pages in a book. Also nice to lay a big map out on the hood of your rig and have everyone gather around to figure out where in the hell to go next!
