An hour of highway followed by a pleasant hour of easy dirt from Port Angeles to the South Fork of the Hoh.
Led to a nice but windy at the time, campsite. Notice that the awning in use, the Kelty Sideroads, is shaped like an airfoil. Now if you add in a goofy geezer and a two foot thick mat of blackberry brambles, you have the makings of a video that only plays in my memory. Didn't hurt all that much...
The same breeze made it impossible to set up the large tarp I had so opted for a ground tent for lounging in the wind. When you have a rig all to yourself , you can carry all kinds of stuff. This is also a test for camping this winter but I would not want open flame in that tent so I sprung another leak in the bank account. I'm thinking of one of those instant pop out ice fishing tents.

Also this is the first set up of my ham radio 20 meter elevated ground plane antenna. It's a 17 foot whip antenna mounted on top of a painters extension pole about 12 feet high with 4 ea. 16 foot radials as guy wires. I made contacts with Alaska, Chicago, Denver, Iowa, Arizona, Florida, and California.
Fog so thick it was wet.
I also went wandering in the forest.
You really don't want to wander off the trail.
Some roads, even if they are easy, would just be nice with another rig or two behind you.
It ranged from 70 degrees during the day to mid 40's at night. It got down to 46 in the camper at night but I have an electric mattress cover and was warm and toasty. Any cooler and I'll break out the diesel heater for getting in or out of bed. Then again after filling up the truck with diesel I'm hoping they'll have an easy pay plan for next time.
