Since purchasing my Tacoma new in 2018 (8 miles ODO) it has already served me well with a plethora of trips to the eastern Sierra's, up and down the pacific coast and through central Washington. I sold myself into a TRD Pro because I got a reasonable deal due to my company owning the dealership at the time, and with the thought that I could leave it stock with the fancy Fox suspension. I bought a Can-Back canvas soft topper about 1 month into ownership (although it took 6 months to arrive, do not do business with them!) and a bed mat, and that was plenty enough for this rig for the first year and a half of ownership. The topper provided a lot of flexibility, shade for the dogs, cover for gear, a place to crash for the night and a truck to haul gear! Coming from a 3rd gen 4runner, I could not relate to those who complain about the 3rd gens (Tacoma) lack of power. In my eyes it felt, and still feels like a beast, with 60+ more HP than the 4runner and 3-4 more mpg it is a modern marvel! Snow, mud, rain dirt and rocks it has proven very capable.

Storage was always a bit tight as the dogs dominated the truck bed, so I was constantly on the lookout for a rack to go around the canvas. I eventually got thule roof bars for the cab, but other than holding a surfboard/snowboard or 2 they didn't prove to be as useful as I hoped being so far forward, and with such a small cab.
