Tenchi's FX4 Overland Build

I've been looking for a truck ever since I sold the ZJ last year. Found a 2005 FX4 I could not pass up. First is to take it off road to see what I want to do with it. I know I want to put a hidden winch, but there is no aftermarket mount for that, so I'll have to fab something.

I looked on their website but it is very cryptic. I may call them to verify.
I mocked the winch that I have behind the bumper and it looks like I have enough room. If I go the fabrication route it would take a steel plate (thickness TBD) and some cutting of the bumper right behind the licence plate.

My daughter and I went for a drive on some gravel forest roads today.

Installed a leveling kit. Was a pain, but overall it looks better. Need to take her on a long trip and some gravel roads to see if there is a difference in ride quality.

Next mod on the list is to put in the winch. Still modifying the plate so it tucks in neatly behind the bumper.

Installed a back-up camera.


Works good.

Also started on the hidden winch mounting plate. Need to work more on that before it goes in.
