It’s official! Got my OB #28083 and committed to taking the TAT starting mid April. Looking to start in the blue ridge mountains right outside of Charlottesville and make my way aim the TAT through Colorado and end up in Bozeman!! Roof rack should be showing up any day now with the rooftop tent shortly after. I’m stoked! Over the next few weeks, my fridge/freezer should be arriving with my Jackery500 w/ solar. Once that’s all received I’ll be building out my cargo area for the back and hitting the road April 19th.

Looking for route suggestions/recommended camp spots/destination trailheads/mtn peaks/breweries

Thanks! Looking forward to sharing my trip and the progress over the coming weeks

There's a high probability you'll encounter road closures in the Rocky Mountains if you get there before mid June.

Are you planning to take the Shadow of the Rockies turn off in Colorado? If so, you might not experience as many closures because it misses several of the high elevation passes. Tincup Pass will probably still be closed though.

Detours just add to the adventure
Perhaps, but the high elevation passes are main attractions.

I've heard of a number of people getting bored in the Midwest and even Eastern portions and bailing on the TAT. They then drove straight to Colorado, etc, to do these four wheel drive roads.

It's a common mistake to try to visit CO too early in the season.
