...was actually not difficult at all, in case you're considering a near-term trip. Plenty of branch-rubbing, but nothing really difficult. Heck, I only had to go into 4WD three times, and I went up the "more difficult" Union Springs side first. I went on a Tuesday and thus had the trail pretty much to myself (only saw a Raptor and a Jeep). Big of a rain shower in the afternoon, but the trail wasn't washed out at all. The mud pit near the top was fairly low. Bottom line: have at it if you have a 4WD with at least modest ground clearance!
