We are looking to go up to the Rio Grande National Forest from Central Texas this summer. I've searched and found many tips for the Alpine Loop. However, due to time constraints, we aren't going to be able to go that far. So, we will be staying in southern Colorado near Jasper. I'm certainly getting the guide to Colorado backroads, but wondered if anyone has tips for boondocking areas and nice trails to explorer. Nothing extreme, just want to view the amazing scenery. 74 from New Mexico to 103 in Colorado, with a possible river crossing between them looks promising.
Thanks in advance.

After some research, the FS has several good Motor Vehicle Use Maps that include trails that are approved for dispersed camping.
