Explorer I
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking into doing a solo trip thru last chance canyon and a stop at Burro Schmidt's Tunnel.
I'm getting conflicting info from the Interweb. (Can you believe it??)
Some people are saying don't even try it without 3 inch lift, 35 inch tires, skid plates, etc.. other's say they did it in their stock 4wd with some good spotting.
I also haven't seen any recent trip reports. The latest seem to be last winter/early spring.
My 4 runner has a 2.5 inch lift, 265 BFG KO2's and rock sliders. no winch, but recovery boards, shovel, straps, HAM radio, etc...
I did Death Valley from south to north thru Lippincott pass and Steel pass with no problems late November. Then did Old Dale Mining District over Thanksgiving.
I'm not a newb, but don't want to get in over my head. I try to plan ahead so I can have some fun without destroying my rig in the process.
Any good advice would be appreciated!
