I am looking for a good flexible solar panel that is no wider than 16” for install on a surface that is 17” x 49”. I see many panels that are around 20” wide and up with various lengths but I can’t seem to find panels that are a little more narrow in size. They all seem to be based on the same standard layout of identical sized cells produced in blocks of 4 wide. Does anyone have a source for a more narrow panel size?

I've seen narrow ones used that fit between the gaps in metal roofing, you might want search for metal roof solar panels. This was on a show I watched called Building Off Grid, they were long and narrow solar panels.

Here's what I'm talking about, the trick I guess is sourcing the solar panels without the roofing.

I also did a Google search for thin long solar panel and came up with a few options like the ones below, longer than what you're looking for but thin enough.

Solarland SLP080S-12M Monocrystalline 80 Watt 12 Volt Solar Panel

Zamp USM5005 90-Watt Long Roof Mount B-Grade Solar Panel

How many watts you need, likely won't find 100 watt panel less than 20" wide. Your gonna have to likely connect multiple panels to get desired wattage. These 20w panels fit your width measurement,

It looks like they have a 55 watt which would fit and that may be enough power for my needs. I spent a whole evening on Amazon and just couldn't find anything more then the very small watt panels.

I am planning to mount the solar panel on top of a storage case that would be fixed on the rack during my trips. I would have access to items in the box while it is on top of my Jeep and since it would be always there the solar panel would be producing electricity throughout the day without the need to set one up separately at camp each day, etc. If I find the use of the fixed box for storage works well I may get additional boxes and if I got another one the same size as the first and if needed I could double my solar with a second similar panel which should give me more than I need power wise.

You can link as many panels as you want up as long as your charge controller can handle it. Id get a few just to have spares or to link if need more power.
