Just noticed you are from Placerville. I lived in Outingdale in 1946-47, near Youngs. Are you familiar with the names ? It was wilderness in those days and I loved the winters there even though it was my job to cut 8 chords of wood before the winter came. We were all (5 families) snowed in for 3 months that year. Mom's 30 model A ford coupe was the first to make it out for grocery supply after 3 months of being stranded. Wood was our only heat and we had no electricity or plumbing. Going to Placerville once a year was big time for us kids. I went to a school (Mount Akum ?) 3 miles over the mountain that had first through 8th grade with only one teacher in one room building. Loved that place ! Many memories, your a lucky man to live there.

I do know where Outingdale is, but have not heard of Youngs. That area is an up and coming wine producer so wineries are popping up everywhere. I live in the town of El Dorado next door to Diamond Springs and Placerville.

I remember the grape orchards all along the way from Sacramento to Outingdale. I need to return one day before I cant. Hopefully that will be soon when I go to Wa and Or to see my two kids up there and to visit with Vance @4wheelspulling !

Forecast is 8-10" Monday night where I'm at. About time to get the cruiser offroad in the snow.

First snow was Halloween weekend. Last year it was first week of October so this year is an improvement. Can’t wait for it to be GONE.

I wish we had snow. Here in North Texas we used to get at least one decent snow every winter and now we have been in a 4 year snow drought. I have no hope for any snow or ice this winter.
And we're at a greater disadvantage for snow. We got about ~2.5 inches back in December of 2008 and about 4 inches a couple years ago.

I too, wish for snow this winter.

Winter is off to a dry start here in Southern Idaho, but the forecast is calling for 6-8 through Friday.
