I took a couple of pictures as PSA for some folks in our local LR club who are new to off roading in the winter, when you get higher in elevation the snow can be pretty treacherous. It was about 2 Deg C where I took these

Be very aware of this stuff, very hard ice crust on top of snow that is like sugar. When the crust breaks it is like being in loose sand and trying to climb a lip that keeps breaking, often with ice at the bottom for extra fun. You can end up doing a lot of digging. Where I took these pictures it was not an issue, but a couple of spots could have been.
