I decided to take a Mental Health day and go play in the dirt. My plan was to head over to Redbird SRA in Indiana. I have been meaning to check this place out for months but just haven't had the time. It's only about 200 miles away from me so today was the day. I got up early, packed some snacks and gear and headed out. It ended up being a great day, 62 degrees and not a cloud in the sky most of the day.

When I got there, only two vehicles were in the trailhead parking lot and no one was at the gate. I was worried it was closed But the sign said "No Fee Today" so I hit the trails. Other than myself, I only saw two guys on dirt bikes the entire day. It was perfect. Now I can't wait for spring to get here.

Seeing everyone else’s pics of recent trips was making me jealous too. One afternoon wandering around in the woods doesn’t sound very relaxing but it was a much needed change of pace. Nice to take a day off every once in a while!

It was such a nice day, the traffic on the way home hardly bothered me at all haha

I'm hoping to go to Redbird SRA in the end of June. Did you see any campgrounds or campsites in the Park or surrounding areas? Can you disperse camp there?

Before I went, I looked online and saw that there are places to camp near Redbird and they might allow overnighting in the gravel lot before the trailhead. I don't believe you are allowed to camp in the park itself. Give them a shout and check because I could be wrong about that. I didn't see any park rangers or staff so I honestly don't have good info on camping.

Thanks J.W.! It definitely isn't clear whether there is or isn't. I will give them a call and find out.

No worries man! Let me know what you find out. I would love to head back over there for at least an overnight. It was a lot of fun.
