Here is a trademark street sign in the town my parents live in (Aiken, SC - right across the border from Augusta, GA)

Here is a spot I go by pretty frequently (Belton, SC)

And here is a Distillery right down the road from where I live. The original town name of Pelham, SC was originally Sugartit, SC. The name has mostly been erased especially after BMW set up their factory right down the road - but there is a distillery & a race track that still proudly wears the name of Sugartit.

Lived here most of my life. I have seen this town change so much in that period. Vegas has gone thru many building phases. Some examples:

Saw in person the filming of the James Bond film...Diamonds are forever (1969), the downtown chase in the mini parking lot. Always got a kick when the red Mustang goes in the narrow alley on 2 wheels. and comes out the other side, on the opposite 2 wheels. :grinning: Certain locations are still there, but encompassed in Urban sprawl....example, the Cemetery/crematory in Henderson, NV, as seen in the movie.

Watching the TV show Dan Tanner, how he was on the same phone call, seconds apart, and on different parts of the "Strip" or going in the opposite direction.:astonished:

In Vegas, there is very little sentiment for preserving the "Old". It is out with the old, in with the new. They should have preserved the old downtown area ICE HOUSE, which was a Union Pacific RR stop for Ice replenishment on the "Pacific Express" train consists, out of California, for fruits and vegetables heading to market's in the East. This was prior to refrigeration on individual Rail cars.

In the case of the old Casino signs, they got it right. Setting up the "Neon museum" for many of the Classic Hotel signs, and installing others around Downtown for tourists and locals to enjoy. Was so glad VEGAS VIC and the HACIENDA (shown in photo) were restored and given new life. There is something to be said about NEON vs Incadesent, and now LED for advertisement purposes.

I was in and out of Vegas frequently from 1987 to 2016 for family, and my sister's family still lives there. WOW did it grow during that time. Miss driving down Fremont Street or having a few tailgate beers on the top floor of the Circus Circus parking garage while enjoying the night time view (misspent youth!). Yes, when I was first there I was surprised there was no "old Town" or early history preserved and highly approved when they stripped the Golden Gate back to the original outside walls (but I was devastated when the 99 cent shrimp cocktails went away!) I would have very much enjoyed if the city kept the Union Pacific history, what a shame! Not a big fan of the "Fremont Street Experience, but thankfully they did not put in the Venice style moat that was being pushed. Gondolas floating down Fremont street...really???? The saving grace to the madness is at least out of the valley there is still land to access and be away from the crazy.

Is 15mph the magical speed at which they think you are not a threat and hence venture out in front of your tires?

I will have to try that.
