Here is a late posting of my trip to the Shenandoah Mountains on Veterans Day weekend (10-12 November 2017). We started at the intersection of Briery Branch Rd and Reddish Knob Rd located right on the VA/WV state line near (38.482216, -79.221151). We traveled north on US Forest Service Rd 85. It started out mostly like a dirt road until we got further north to US Forest Service Rd 85A. Even through the terrain continued to get rough, the Jeep made it to Flagpole Knob in 2WD.

Flagpole Knob:

From Flagpole Knob we continued north on US Forest Service Rd 85A, an then branched off on Dunkle Hollow Rd. This is where the real fun began. I eventually put it in 4LO because I got tired of riding the brakes. The descent was steep, and rough after this "monumental tree" laying across the path:

Further north Dunkle Hollow Rd eventually turns into Skidmore Fork Rd, passing Switzer Lake and dumping you onto US-33 (Rawley Pike):

The next day, we decided to take a stroll through Shenandoah National Park by driving north on Skyline Dr from Rockfish Gap to Front Royal. Beautiful drive to say the least, and free to enter for Active Duty/Retired Military:
