I see where a lot of you would like to have an economical roof rack or something that will carry your things on the roof. I have searched everywhere for a low cost method that would do the job with as little cost and effort as possible. When looking in my Norther freight catalog I finally found something that might work for you as I think it will work for me. It would be a good foundation for a heavy duty roof rack. It comes in 2 pieces but since I want a really strong roof rack I ordered 2 units which will give me four supporting cross bars. The cost of 4 bars is only $208 + tax, shipping is free from Lowe's. here is the web site. I hope this helps you as much as it did me in selecting an economical means of carrying my junk up top. https://www.lowes.com/pd/werner-steel-van-rack/1000172245?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-tah-_-bing-_-pla-_-145-_-truckboxesandracks-_-1000172245-_-0&kpid&msclkid=3e1b3b44bb6c1d5e910e67cdef6e8e52&k_clickID=bi_264334740_5492151254_81363880229856_pla-1100008778619:aud-806056765_c_

Those look pretty promising for someone with gutters. I'll be building my own roof rack from extruded aluminum pretty soon. We'll see how it works out.

They sell the roof mounted ones as well. Also the same site has what they call a roof basket. It measures 60"x 39"x 6", and sells for under $90..Between the cross bars (2) and the basket the cost is down to $194 for something that can carry about 200 pounds. The rack will carry 600 pounds total. That's not bad for the price. They would do until you could get yours built, the can easily be sold for whst you pay for them + - a few $ !!
