Okay, just called the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. They do not close down the trail due to rain, however if they (rangers?) see you damaging the trails (unnecessarily creating ruts) they will make you leave. With that said, the lady was saying they're getting a lot of rain and expecting snow later in the week. We can keep the date and time and make it interesting or maybe reschedule for next week (Sunday seems to work for everyone interested) and pray it drys out a little?

It's hard to predict the weather but the trail doesn't close for the year until November 15th.

That's good to know, here in the east bay the rain has been minimal, so I think it was giving me a false sense of hope. Not to sound like a wimp, I'm okay waiting a week. This weekend my wife would be with me, and I can just picture all the nagging with the rain, mud and zero visibility with the scenic views. If we wait another week it would just be me and maybe my two boys.

So I'm pulling the plug and pushing this back one week to Sunday November 6th. I know we need the rain, but I hope we get a decent pause.

Weather permitting: Same Location and time (9:30am) Sunday November 6th.

Trying to get a headcount estimate, let me know if you're interested and are able to make it out this Sunday. The weather looks a lot better than last Sunday.
