Which part? NP, SP or WMA. Any and all of the SP or WMA are worth visiting. Lots of pavement in the NP but still a very scenic area.

ernst tenaja is a pretty cool formation. you have to drive out old ore road (4x4/high clearance) to get to it. if you want the shorter way to get there go north from the south end of the road. black gap trail is fun for a little wheeling. you can take the river road east around to the mariscal mine (good lunch stop) and head north on black gap road. that will put you out by glen spring which can take you back towards the main park road. or you can continue along the river road across the whole south end of the park.

Thanks, our first camp is not to far from this.

Thought I'd try this feature out if anyone is using the 3 word location in the OB1 app map. The 3 word location for this meet-up is ///classics.cure.plant

Hey, Mike, where is that really? I'm not a 3-word dude. Hope to be there this time; been a LONG time since my last meet-up.

Butterbar??? Nope, I worked for a living AND could walk and chew out some boots at the same time!! And what's the point of a compass without a map?? So, where on the map are these coordinates?

Hope to see all ya all this time, and bring the pup, Rex.

Lets see if this works.
///classics.cure.plant

I'm planning attending. It's been a while since I attended a meet.

I'm sure you used more than 3 words while chewing boots.
The meet is at the south end of San Gabriel Park. It's marked on the OB map and GPS coordinates are in the event link. I should have a canopy with basecamp flag visible.
