Radios??

Pulled out my CB and have no plans to put in anything else. I go out to be away from people, not to talk to someone on a radio.

If you feel the need for a radio, great. I have a SPOT for emergencies and that's all I need.

Cobra 29 LTD classic CB though sometimes I swap it out with a Cobra 25 LTD with weather

Cobra Micro Talk GMRS/FRS handhelds with weather (which replace the old Realistic TRC-206's)

Now you have me wanting to pull out my 25 LTD to see if it has weather band.

I had an old Cobra 19 Ultra III in my old 1993 K1500 Blazer Silverado, but I admit, I dont think I have ever seennor heard of a Cobra 15. Do you have pics? I'd love to see.

What are you guys running as far as radios? I'm running a president Andy and switch from a fire stick 48 inch and a 102 in whip. looking at putting in VHF radios, and a sat com system in the future.

Ham: Yaesu FTM-400XDR (2m/70cm. 50Wmax) with Diamond NR73BNMO (2.15dBi/5.3dBi) and a COMPACtenna (~3dBi).
GMRS: Midland MXT275 (15Wmax) with Midland MXTA26 (6dBi) and Laird (3dBi).
CB: Nope, rugged mountainous terrain just clobbers propagation of amplitude modulated signals.
SatCom: Don't have one, but it would work fine here.

Nope mine isn’t a 25 LTD WX... it’s a 25 LTD Classic... very nice radio though... I’ve been thinking of swapping out my 15 LTD for my Galaxy 959 XD...

Just got a look at a Galaxy 959. Very nice equipment with upper and lower side bands!

My 29LTD has been modified with a toggle for that on the side, but that Galaxy makes it look sweet on one tidy package

I haven’t ever hooked my 959 up other than just to test it when I traded an old fishing rod for it. I was going to use it as a base station unit, but decided I have enough antennas on my trailer, and I feel it would get more use out there.

I’ll get pictures up tomorrow... it’s the same as the 25 classic, but in a smaller package.

I've read you can now get your HAM online now. I have my GMRS, just money and it's good for many years. I keep a eye out for used radio gear and have 2 b-fang hams, two motor gmrs, and a 120ch portable cb. Upgrading antennas helps reception/distance.

How do you have a 120ch CB, when 11 Meter only has 40? Even if using LSB and USB on 11M (CB) you are stuck with 4 watts of power and 40 channels.

That's all you need to get squawking! Cool!
It’s only one of my 4 CB radios... and it’s coming out of the Bronco when I revisit my interior... I’m putting my Galaxy 959 XD in now that I have a clean mounting solution in mind.

Bell's CB used to sell a modded Uniden 75-822. It had Channels for Europe and south America. 26.515-26.955 and 27.415-27.855, it is peaked to 18 watts. It was only $20 over msrp. I've never used the extra channels just wanted the 18 watts in a hand held portable. Pretty versatile radio, I can run it off 12V in the cab or use 2 different battery packs, AA's or rechargable AA's. I use a midland mag mount antenna. I run some tight brush trails and a real antenna would not live long on my rig.

At the moment, I myself am using L'il Will Wilson mag mount antenna. I just dont want to drill into the roof. Thought about an under-hood mount but have not purchased or executed that yet.

I’m going to be “that” guy... 18 watts isn’t legal in the US for Civilian Band Radio. So don’t go blasting it around and you’ll be fine... be a J.A. Like the guy on 80m last night and the FCC will take notice.
