Permanently shut off chat

Am I missing something that would allow me to permanently shut off mobile chat? I know how to shut it off for the present session. I never use chat and most likely never will.

Thanks. I just noticed that I don’t have the chat thing at the bottom of my page anymore. Something must’ve changed.
