We spent the weekend camped out up at a nice little lake in the local mountains. Aside from a couple in a small cabin down the lake we were alone, there were no other folks camped out in the vicinity.

When we got home yesterday I noticed this on the Xterra. The prints were not there Saturday, so whatever animal came wandering about must have done so early Sunday morning. (It rained Saturday evening, so any prints left earlier in the evening would have washed away by Sunday morning)

We had our two dogs with us in the RTT, but neither made those prints. It's been my experience that dogs generally leave nice scratch marks whenever they jump up against a vehicle. I also have a runner which I put out down the hood for them to climb up and walk down out of the RTT, so I'm pretty confident in saying it was not one of my dogs that left the prints.

Our one pooch is deaf so she would not have heard anything rustling around, and the other was sick from eating goodness-knows-what-he-found-in-the-forest earlier on Saturday, so he too was dead to the world.

One day, I'll get a game cam and leave it up to see what comes wandering about in the wee hours. It is a healthy reminder, however, that we are just visitors to Mother Nature's domain, and should treat it and respect it as such.
