There are cabins to rent at Cacapon State Park. It’s surrounded by private land, so the best you’ll do is county back roads. You’ll have to go farther west and south into the GW and Monongahala NF for remote camping. There is also a campground at Paw Paw. It’s basically a small field adjacent to a gravel parking lot set up for thru hikers/ bikers on the C&O canal.
The sad reality of living in the crowded east coast.

I failed to mention that Sleepy Creek WMA is not far from Cacapon.
It has 75 primitive campsites. Don’t think alcohol is allowed, though.
There are some off road trails that are open during hunting seasons, but unfortunately most of the traffic is illegal wheeling.:rage:
Also, on the other side of the river in MD is Greenridge State Forest. Back in the day when the ohv trail was open I would go there for an easy trail ride, but I’ve never camped there. I’ve heard it’s nice. From what I recall seein, very similar to the fs dispersed sites.
