I recently purchased a new to me 05 Suburban. Our 1st trip is coming up quick at the end of Aug. I've been working on planning the trip and one leg has me questioning the route.

We've lives in Montana since 2003 but this is the first time we have been able to travel in our own backyard or taken a real vacation. So we're very excited. The plan is to travel the Western side and stay in the mountains. We have booked a place in Polebridge and the leg to get there from Eureka is either down to Whitefish and up or through some national forest going north and across. Not having traveled up there at all I'm thinking of taking a stock vehicle. It looks okay via google maps satellite view and also Garmin Basecamp. I would like to see if there is a member with any experience to share. I'm guessing the route I'm looking at will not be longer in mileage but longer in time but if the roads are passable I think I can convince the wife this will be fun or at least okay. :)

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
I'd call the Polebridge Ranger Station, they can tell you what's passable. That is beautiful country - enjoy! DG
