Ohio-Kentucky Trip Suggestions

Hello all. We've done some overnights in local campgrounds to test out the gear, but are now wanting to do some mild off-roading and spend the night in...not a campground. Does anyone have any suggestions for Ohio or Northern Kentucky? Ideally, we'd like to find a spot within a few hours of Dayton/Cincinnati Ohio.

Im new to overlanding /offroading - so i dont have lot of places to suggest around greater cincinnati area.

Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway is probably the closest for a diverse range of terrain but you would have to settle for maintained sites to camp unless you want to park and hike in.

I’ve watched some video on the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway and am intrigued by it. Had hoped to explore it earlier this year but then the pandemic hit and life happened. Never made it to it.
