Dear OB family,

Obviously the best people to be a part of a necessary recovery are the trail buddies that are with you.

Now, lets say you go spontaneously, because out of nowhere you wife with three kids do something that allows you one or two days to go out there. Folks with little kids know that you have to take those opportunities but nobody you know is jumping on the train.

Do we have information of specialist off road recovery firms that we also could add to the OB map?

I know in Moab are a bunch of those companies but I live in NorCal, and explore a lot the national forests from here down the Sierras till almost the southern border.

Tahoe, El Dorado, Stanislaus, Yosemite, Sierra, King Canyon, Squoiab- Natioal Forest/Park.

If I am stuck there, who could I call?

What about the famous parks in SoCal:

Death Valley, Mojave, Joshua Tree, Anza-Borrego

I came across this website a few months ago;

I don't remember if it was from watching Justin King and Colorado 4x4 or somewhere else... But I thought it would be prudent to bookmark for later.

Nice thank you! Saved the number and information and signed up for membership.

I still try to find out on how to use our, Overland Bound, SOS feature.
When I am on map, members, I can do send a group message to several people in the area but I thought there is a special SOS message form deployed. When I go on the plus sign for Map Check In, it tells me to do SOS messaging from the map. I don't see it.

Can someone guide me here please?

Since the question really has to do with CA, you might go to the West regional page and also go to the general discussion page to get more eyes on the Q.
As for SOS it works from the member map and if you are unable to see it please use this link to find out what might be the problem.

One approach is to check with local 4x4 clubs or off-road enthusiasts in the area. They often have a wealth of knowledge about local resources and may be able to recommend reputable recovery services. Additionally, some towing companies offer off-road recovery services or can refer you to specialists who can assist in such situations.

For Southern California, particularly in regions like Death Valley, Mojave, Joshua Tree, and Anza-Borrego, similar strategies can apply. Local off-road clubs, forums, or social media groups can be excellent resources for finding information on off-road recovery services specific to those areas. Using sales data enrichment, you can analyze trends and reviews to identify the most trusted and effective service providers.

If you prefer a more centralized approach, you can also search online for off-road recovery companies that serve the regions you frequent. Many of them operate statewide and may have coverage in both Northern and Southern California. By utilizing sales data enrichment tools, you can compare different companies based on customer feedback, service quality, and geographic reach, ensuring that you select the best option for your needs.

OffroadPortal is certainly a good one. After an awesome member here on OB drove 2 hours to pull me off the Capitan mountains when I had engine failure, I decided to try to pay it forward and joind OffroadPortal. I was surprised at the number of recoveries needed in my area. Mostly people doing things they shouldn't be doing but, o well. Lol
