My wife and I are planning to explore Northern California, coastal CA, and coastal Oregon in January. We've got about a week to spend driving, camping, and hiking.
We'll be starting around Olympia, Wa, and working our way down I-5. Our original plan was to hit the redwoods first, then work our way out to the coast and head north. I'd like to camp most nights, and certainly hike some scenic trails. Good off-road trails would definitely be a plus.
I'd like to garner the opinions of those that are more familiar with the area. Would it be worth it to extend my trip and hit Yosemite this time of year? Are there any good off-road trails I should venture towards? What are the must-sees on the Northern California coast?
