It was nice, really dusty, and we stayed up the road a bit at Saco Family Camping; much more amenable! We also stayed at Cape Ann Camp Site in Gloucester, lots of sites, really nice an affordable. We’ll try out Santa’s Village campground this summer for the kids.

Semper, this is my second time around being stationed here and I hate to say but haven't explored much outside of the local area. Later this year when it starts cooling off again and some of the bugs go away I'll start forcing my wife to head west to the mountains and do some good camping. It'll be a little easier now that the kids are a little bigger and they already love going on drives with me... convincing the wife is always the hard part though.
If you can, get over to Ocracoke Island; you can drive out on the beach til 10 pm, and they have campgrounds near the beach. Great little village. Of course, you can’t beat the Blue Ridge mtns! Enjoy and be safe!
