Greetings! I am originally from Montana (I do still have a cabin down there) but moved up to Alaska in October (I used to be stationed in Fairbanks from 2006-2010, so I guess I'm not really new new to Alaska). Anyway, I have been interested in getting into Overlanding for quite some time. In the past, I've had a '97 Grand Cherokee, '03 Grand Cherokee, '07 Wrangler Unlimited and now I have a '16 Cherokee KL that I am planning on getting "overland ready". I have already ordered a 1.5" lift to fit bigger tires and then my plan is to get a Gobirack, roof tent and go from there. In the meantime, I look forward to soaking up as much information as I can!

If youve never camped out by Hope AK, you should! I grew up in Eagle River and miss the hell out of all the great remote spots up there in such a short distance.

Thank you for the recommendation and I will certainly check it out! We have been exploring Homer and Ninilchik the past few weekends but took a day trip up to Hatchers Pass. Now that the sun is up more I'm itching to get out and explore!
