New Mandatory Death Valley Backcountry Use Permit

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

DVNP has instituted a mandatory backcountry use permit for roadside camping in Echo Canyon, Hole in the Wall, Cottonwood Canyon, and Marble Canyon. The permit can be obtained same day only at the Furnace Creek ranger station. Camping will only be available in designated spots to reduce the impact in these heavily used areas. You can read more here: Death Valley National Park Wilderness/Backcountry use Permits. There are some wonderful places to camp along Echo Canyon but it was getting more crowded... I hope this helps.
