hey yall, my name is Michael and I have a 2000 ford ranger trailhead that i use as my daily driver/adventure rig/fun toy offroad.
I currently have one wheel wonder problems but am searching for the required components to do the 4x4 swap while keeping my truck a 5-speed.0116181634_HDR.jpg

Welcome to the forums! Looks like you have a solid truck to start the 4x4 conversion & you'll be glad you did, so many more places you can stretch it's legs.

You'd be suprised at some of the places its already been... Ive had it down some hairy old logging roads during rainy season, pushed through spots my buddy swore we would get stuck in but backed off when i came to a clearing that was visibly thick sinking mud... Knowing what limits you can push and which ones to call it quits at is a good thing as im sure we would have had quite the hike to get help out of that clearing

I believe it, like you say knowing your limits & knowing your vehicle can get you far. That & a healthy dose of momentum can do a lot! And I think there is something to learning from a 2wd first. I learned soooo much about car control from driving a turbo Miata thru a brutal winter that I think has served me well since.

Truck has been down for a week due to what started with the clutch giving out on my way to work last week, got everything fixed and back together and now have a noise to chase down that i really havent wanted to deal with. She got the factory front axle put in and is waiting for my 4wd Tran to be rebuilt to finish the 4wd conversion but has had a couple short trips resulting in a couple nice pictures. Anyone near me want to spend some time in the heat with me soon to figure out my current issue? Lol
