It's got the right engine. Assuming I keep the Ram, I'll most likely do a Cummins 12v 94-98 engine swap. I love the rear box and the basic layout of the rear rack - I could mount my AirTop just like that. I like the bumpers and the sliders - although I need someway to get a retracting step in there. I love the suspension and axles/diffs - but it's overkill for what I need. Also, I don't want 40" tires - I need to be able to lift the darn things by myself, preferably without getting a hernia in the process. I'm thinking 35" is plenty. I may skip the rack and go with a four-wheel popup camper - but I'm a year or more away from having to make that decision.

I'll probably stick with the stock dash - although if I have to rip it out when (not if) the heater plenum doors fail, I'd be tempted to simplify. I like the orange but I'd go with something a little more subtle - like Line-X Green with flat black hood stripes :)

It sort of scratches the itch for big and tough.

Well, the bed box looks like the ones that are being sold at the government surplus HMMV trailers which you can get for as low as $500. Just need to take off your old school 8' bed and bolt this puppy in place. Being made of aluminum the bed will be very light. You can buy 2 trailers, use 1 for the truck bed and the other as your overland trailer.

I see on your original post that you have one of Keep Your Daydream videos. They are such a nice family and they did a great job of recording their entire cross country trip with kids. Sweet..
