As a Montero owner, this makes me sad. You're just going to blend in with everyone else, putting thousands of trouble free miles on a capable but boring rig.

I feel you man. That's one reason I chose the montero to begin with....unique and very capable. But sadly they get little to no support in the US market for parts. I plan rebuilding....but at a slow and steady pace.

Get on the Montero FB forums. There are a bunch of guys that have gotten the engines out of the newer outlander, Diamonte, ect. There are a few items to swap from the FWD to the RWD but its been done many times or just got 4.8 or 5.3 LS.
