The White Rim Trail is a good trip, but it's about 90 miles, so if you are going to do it in one day, you will need to start early. You have to have a permit from the NPS since it is inside the park. If you can score a camp site, go for a two day trip. It is an amazing drive.

For sure. That's why we decided to explore Hurrah and Gemini Bridges/Metal Masher then La Sal Pass, Thompson Valley to Onion Creek the next day.
Hurrah Pass. Can't wheel and explore without my girl.

If you use or have the Kindle app order the Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails 3rd Edition from Amazon. It lists every trail in the area including many of the less traveled including information on distances and difficulty. For $19.95 it's hard to beat.

Amazing pictures. We are headed there for the first time in May. Can't wait, we are taking the JKU, YJ and Trooper with both of my sons are going. We haven't had a family vacation since before they moved out on their own.

Heading that way in September. We've got a full day in Moab, but would like to see Arches and Canyonlands NPs. I'm hoping we have time to do a trail or two. Our trip "theme" is "Jeep Trails", but there are all those National Parks that are irresistible to those of us on the East Coast...
You will want a full day (or more) for Arches.

You will want several full days for trails.
Oh, and there is also Dead Horse Point State Park.
Oh, and Canyonlands? That is like three separate parks, requiring three separate entrances if you really want to see it.
Figure you are taking this trip for the sake of taking notes for your next trip.
Moab is one of my favorite places in the world. We try and get out there every other year - sometimes more. I highly recommend you take Potash Road out to the Shafer Trail. It will take you past some of the most beautiful sights. Easy trail that winds all the way up the canyon. If you want to try something more challenging and push your skills a bit, you may want to try Fins and Things or my personal favorite, Hells Revenge. We like staying at Archview Campground with our RV. They do have cottages that you can rent for a reasonable price. Have Fun!!
