Hello Overland Bound Community!

I'm Dingus, and I'm new to Overlanding. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of rig I want to build, so there's no photo just yet.
I'm located in Wisconsin
I have spent 20+ years as a backpacker and I want to stretch my outdoor adventures past the hiking trail and have it be more all-encompassing with a mobile base of sorts that can get me deeper into the wilderness before the hike starts.

Looking forward to doing some research and learning from the collective knowledge of this forum.

Hi Matt,

Welcome to Overland Bound!

Greetings!

My name is Stuart and I’m in the northwest US, on the border between Washington and Idaho, to be specific.

I originally hail from South Africa and have spent a lot of time in Botswana, which is where the overloading bug first bit me.

Here in the States, I recently lost my stalwart Subaru Forester - who bravely ventured where no Forester has ventured before, only to die a violent death in traffic.

Consequently, I’ve finally upgraded: to a 2018 4Runner TRD Pro that was extensively modded by the previous owner for an adventurous life in Utah (lifted, shocks, armour, 35s, regeared, and more).

Bucketlist trips are now Canyonlands and Great Bear, but will be looking for more local adventures first in the E-WA/N-ID/NE-OR.

Pictures attached are of my 4Runner in northern Idaho, and the Landcruiser I (and a tetchy hippo) recently put through its paces in a very wet Botswana.

Cheers!

Hello! My Name is Tony and I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside of Yosemite NP. I have been a longtime motorcycle rider especially on dirt for over 15 years. While I still love it I've noticed more aches and pains at 55 yo when I fall. So I started overlanding, all the views, peace, and outdoors... Less falling and picking up my bike . I would consider myself new (about two years) but not a novice. Thousands of miles of mountains roads in my backyard. Love to explore and just pick left or right, up or down as the mood hits me.

I hope to find a local group and attend some group runs. I'm an professional artist/designer (25 years) and I do a little drone flying and photography
to compliment this hobby.

It's a 2003 Ford SportTrac, I designed and build my own RTT platform for $160.

Welcome to the crew Tony!!!

Been around for awhile, just never posted!

Joel Wagner from Denver, CO.

Current rig is a 22 Nissan Frontier Pro4X with a fox long-travel 3in lift and ADO uppers. Just installed Z1’s big brake kit up front, and new wheels/tires (285/70/17).

CA Tuned bumper, Warn winch, Up Top rack with 23 Zero RTT.

I’ve been around this community since I was a boy growing up in Africa, so Overlanding was more a way of life, and not a lifestyle. Ive been hooked ever since driving the roads of Zimbabwe in my dad’s 1989 Toyota double cab hilux.

Cheers!
Welcome to OB!

Back in September 2024 I picked up my 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. I simply love this truck. So, far I have spent quite a bit of money with Z! Off-Road. I have a Z1 bed rack with all the molle panels and the extra cross bar, Installed Niilight 2" ditch lights, moved the rear diff breather (another Z1 upgrade!), installed a Retevis RA86 GMRS radio, Bulletpoint Dash panel with a few extra arms, installed an EMP-Shield module to protect all my electronics, and a few other interior things. Still saving up for the Z1 Recon bumper, a 12K winch, a 3' lift kit, and a Nismo roof rack, to name a few upcoming installs. I am new to overlanding, but have done a lot of tent camping over the years with my son.

I like the look of your truck and the RTT.

Hey there fellow overlanders —

My name is Katie and I’m originally from the Jersey Shore (no, not like the tv show). I moved down to my second home, the Southern OBX, back in 2017 and met my local-born husband and the absolute LOML. One year ago, I bought a Ford Bronco. Two weeks later, my husband bought his. We quickly got heavy into off-roading thanks to the NC Bronco Club and the girl who had only camped in a tent once in her life started her overlanding journey. Sidebar: I did spend every summer in my grandparents 30+ ft Prowler growing up, but it was a permanent setup in a large beachside campground with all of the amenities… including Grandma’s famous meatballs.

As far as our overlanding journey goes — We started out with a wonderful Walmart-bought tent and almost got a divorce after pitching that thing in the dark so we upgraded to a Gazelle T4. In a week or so, our Tiny Camper Co. build will be ready… super excited!!

In addition to working full-time at our local hospital, I somehow find time to co-host The Feud All-Terrain Rally in Matewan, West Virginia and function as an event planner for East Coast NC Overland here in the SOBX. Both organizations are 501c3 non-profits and benefit the youth in their respective areas.

So that’s me in a nutshell.

Hey folks,

We're Willow and Lee (better know as the Kombi Chronicles).

Since the 28th of August 2019, we have been overlanding full time.

Our adventures started in New York and last December we finally reached Ushuaia, at the bottom of South America.

Are there any other overlanders in here currently travelling through South America?

Welcome to the community! Sounds like some great traveling !!

Hi all - new to the group and new to overloading. We moved to Utah from Michigan and found a great love of all the BLM land and trails.

We are just getting into overloading - definitely newbies. We haven't ventured anything more difficult than White Pocket or Peek a Boo in Kanab, but hoping to expand beyond those areas. For the moment all of those basic dirt roads and trails have been incredible! Will definitely be looking for expert advice from ya'll with more experience.

Below is a pic from the entrance at Peek a Boo Slot Canyon in Kanab.

Welcome to the community! A great place to get started!
