Hi everyone, I am going to be there and heading down through New York State From Ontario, Canada. I will be heading to OK4WD to see what they can do for my rig. Anyone going to be in the area - OK4WD – OE, 4x4, and Performance Specialist for Cars, Jeeps, Trucks, and SUV’s!. Also looking for camping spots on my way down from Alexandria Bay, NY to OK4WD and also on the way to Overland Expo East in West Virginia. I look forward to meeting the OB community. Best wishes Amanda

Wish I could make it to meet everyone. I'm heading up to Northern Canada during the same time so I won't be able to make it this year. But, in this case I'm good w/ that. :)

Hi Mike - @JeepingMike, Thanks for the Like, I am excited to be travelling to the Expo and also to me able to see and explore PA your home turf! Do you have any recommendations for camping spots and easy trails, my rig is still being built and has only the stock GM suspension, plus my camper on the bed, so no rock climbing for me :-)

To everyone else heading to the expo, does anyone else wish to meet pre expo?

Hi Amanda. Pennsylvania is a big state! If you're traveling down I-81, there isn't a whole lot near the highway. At least in the south end of the state.

A bit north/northwest of Harrisburg is Bald Eagle State Forest, which has quite a bit. Take a look through https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/pennsylvania-bald-eagle-state-forest.22173/ for lots of info, and I think some tracks posted by @DevilDodge .
Down here closer to Maryland is Michaux State Forest, with some trails and as I understand it has no remote camping.
Keep in mind that it is hunting season here, so some roads are open only for that purpose, and hunters are taking over the forests. Also, due to the hurricane remnants and other weather, it will be very muddy and potentially challenging in a different way for a full size rig.

Safe travels! If I can be of further assistance, please reach out. DevilDodge is an outstanding resource for PA also. I look forward to meeting you on Saturday.

We'll probably be there mid-day ish on Thursday. Settle in, recon, relax. Feel free to say hi. Green jeep, tan/orange ground tent.

For everyone's FYI - the forecasts for the weekend are indicating cold, possibly the season's first hard frost while we're there. Nice, but be prepared and safe.

I'm doing a pre-Expo trail ride on Big Levels.

Meet at Slacks Trail Parking to Slacks Trail Parking Tuesday evening 5pm-ish or Wednesday morning 9am-ish. I will be there Tuesday eve and find a camp spot on the trail nearby. PM me if interested so I know who to meet when. So far just my F-150 and a friend in a Tacoma.

Not sure yet whether we'll go South to North or North to South.

OK4WD is a great place! I've ordered a lot from them, but never had them do any work as i do most of it myself, but they are very helpful and enjoy chatting about 4X4 and overlanding.

I would recommend chatting with Joseph, he's one of the sales agents. (At least that's what I remember his name being.)

Delaware Water Gap is a great place to look around, while there are some rocky forest roads to drive on, not many "trails" around like you would think in Moab or the other wonders of the western US. But plenty of fun by the river, some water falls, and great hiking trails around.

We'll have a group at Expo Saturday, mid-morning until early afternoon. We're camping off-site at Sherando Lake and will be riding some trails (Forest Service Roads) Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. I don't think our group will be tackling any of the jeep trails, like Potts Mountain or Bull Mountain. Wish we could make it but we won't be at the Expo site during the appointment time. Have fun! safe travels to all!
