So my wife and I decided to do more weekend trips last 2-3 days feeling we we're losing time for ourselves with our careers, children and family events. We thought that finding quirky little back roads and usually places to visit would be tremendously fun.

Well we had hoped for a trip up Medano Pass primitive road, but it didn't quite work out, so we found a nice resort, met up with friends and family, and now think we found the sweetest little spot to hide from life, it's called Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park. Here's how to find it.

All packed up and ready to go a nice weekend Friday Saturday Sunday and we're leaving here in a short bit to take a 347 mile drive to drop my brother off at the Colorado Springs airport so he can head back to Las Vegas Nevada, from there we'll head south back home on interstate 25. We should be home in about an hour from there so we've got a nice five or six hour round trip to make, it was great hope to be back soon.

Just got back from a trip to CO. Made it to Medano Pass based on a suggestion from a fellow Overlander. I thought it was a really cool road/trail, compared to what we have in MO by far. Pretty much had everything. Some rocky sections, water crossings and some deep sand. Nothing to technical. Tried finding the pass using Google, it took me to a private ranch. Had to turn around and found a sign directing us to it. 180619_062601_66.jpegResized952018061995131257.jpeg20180619_140716.jpeg

There are a couple spots on the sandy sections with signs that read "Extremely deep Sand, Air Down to 10-15psi". I just flipped Terrain Response to sand and powered through them with 40psi in a Goodyear A/T. Think there is a minimum $400 wrecker fee if you get stuck. Hopefully there'll be someone else around to help out or you have maxtrax.
