I know politics are discouraged here, but I hope an exception can be made for this issue, as it strikes so directly at this community..

The current budget reconciliation bill making its way through congress includes a *mandate* to sell roughly 3.3 million acres of public lands across 11 western states. This sale would happen very quickly, without hearings, debate or public input. It’s a fire sale, and once these lands are in private hands there’s no getting them back.


This article is from a Lake Tahoe (California/Nevada) perspective but I think this issue affects us all.

Right now, the bill is in the Senate. Call your senator and urge them to remove this provision from the bill. It was already stripped from the House version due to public outcry. If you live in a district with public lands (and even if you don’t), call your representative and remind them not to let the Senate sneak this back in.
