Joshua Tree spring break...camping spots off grid??

Hey guys,
Thinking of heading down to Joshua tree and camping for a few days in April. I was planning on going up Berdoo canyon trail at least spending one night on the way up. Do you guys know of any other trails or spots that I can camp outside of the normal campsites? I just figured its going to be packed
